Finished Journal Cover: pen, marker, hilighter, gimp. So I gave up entirely on the merry-go-round idea, it just wasn't doing what I wanted. Now they are cavorting on monkey bars and rings.
Yellow Outlines: pen, gimp. I really love yellow outlines. I didn't end up using it, but at some point I will.
Working With Layers: pen and paper, gimp. Continued work on the contest piece. Experiments with layers and transparencies in gimp. I am really liking the pink and red together. Otherwise way too chaotic. But going somewhere interesting... The original piece I am working off of is just a black line drawing.
This is not a playground I would be sending Kes to anytime soon.
Dress Ideas: pen on paper. I entered a contest put on by Lilla Rogers Studio, where, if you win, you can be represented by them for two years, among other interesting prizes. I am sure there are many hundreds of people entering, but what is great about this contest is that you compete by illustrating professional assignments. Hoping they post a lot of the entries, I am looking forward to seeing everyone's work. The first round is"design a journal cover in a playground theme as if Paperchase is your client". Fittingly, I am working on a piece that involves bird people flying off one of those metal merry-go-rounds. Above is a sketch for their dresses.
